Gaster is a Hyper Zoanoid and a member of the elite Hyper Zoanoid Team Five. Created by Dr. Barcus using the most advanced technology at Chronos' disposal this unit is a living missile battery. His Zoanoid powers allow Gaster to create biological missiles within his own body (which he can control their flight plan psychically) as well as to produce and spray explosive compounds at his enemies.

His only weakness is the fact that despite the organic explosives are inert and harmless when separated if the compounds were to be mixed within or on his body they would explode and kill him. A weakness was exploited by the Guyver in the 1989 OVA series, puncturing the binary explosive's glands in Gaster's missile pod units on his shoulders caused the compounds to mix and explode killing him.
